The 2002 scribbles section. A very prolific year!
Pencil Crayon Mario
A quick sketch which I did as an experiment with the lovely mechanical pencil
crayons my girlfriend gave me. I'm quite proud of it, for such a fast
sketch.

All in the Family
Based on Harvest Moon, the hero and Ann show off their new baby. This is
a cute little drawing that I coloured in about 20 minutes!
|
Zombie Picnic
Some of the cast from Resident Evil on a picnic. This was a gift for a
friend. At the time I was trying to make it "portfolio quality", and in
some respects it is, but the composition is a bit boring.
|
Mr. Pants Collage
This is an image of Mr. Pants (a character invented by someone at Rareware)
made entirely out of tinier images of characters from the Super Mario
games. It's a long story. It was also a ton of work, but the results were
great!
|
Old Friends
Just a practice pen and ink drawing I decided to do after getting tired of colouring everything.
|
Homer Simpson
Homer Simpson done after my own style. This was inspired by a drawing of
another cartoon character, Mojo Jojo, on the Renderosity website.
|
Slim Shady
A cartoon of Eminem...with Slash in the background. I scribbled these two
into my sketchbook when I was at name that tune at a pub near my house.
Naturally, Eminem and Guns N' Roses were playing at the time.
|
The IOL Incident
This is part of a series of images for a comic book-style Powerpoint presentation
that I helped my friend with for his internship. This is the dramatic cover...I
don't usually use pictures in my images, but I think it worked well here.
|
Troubleshooting I
I didn't have time to colour all of the pictures, so some like this wound up
black and white. My friend is doing some "troubleshooting" here, the Trouble
character was lots of fun to make!
|
Hard At Work
This image represents all the "miscellaneous" work my friend did on his job.
I tried to make his desk messy, and only half-succeeded, but I think the
raccoon was a nice touch, and he went on to become a running gag.
|
Ad 1
The comic included two fake advertisements, which I coloured because they
were more fun than most of the other pictures. This is my second-favourite
of the bunch, after the cover page.
|
Taking Notes
Part of my friend's job was learning about Lotus Notes and documenting the
program for others to use. Not much else to say about this one.
|
Troubleshooting II
One of the many troubleshooting duties my friend undertook was finding a
way to archive old e-mails. Again Trouble was fun to draw, and I was happy
I came up with a way to use him twice while adding a new twist
to the second image.
|
Scientist
Doing tests to determine what was causing a problem with computer software
was one of my friend's jobs, here he is as a brainy scientist doing experiments.
I liked the concept here, but the execution isn't perfect.
|
Dignified Author
Before he finished his work term, my friend wrote an instruction manual for
his own job. I think that's funny, it reminds me of someone writing an
autobiography, so that's what I went with here. Possibly the best in the series.
|
Ad 2
The second fake ad, for a tabloid newspaper. The picture is based on a real
incident! It was one of the more entertaining ones to draw - in fact, the
whole image was a lot of fun. Names were changed to protect the "innocent".
|
Paper Work
At the end of the presentation, my friend had to discuss the best and worst
parts about working for this company. His least favourite part was all
the paper work! A simple image made more entertaining by our old friend
the raccoon.
|
Good Friends
Two of his favourite things about working at the company were his supervisors,
and his co-workers in general. I drew a nice, happy group picture: a departure
from my usual colouring style, which I think turned out grand!
|
Psylocke Vs. Revanche
My latest and possibly greatest Psylocke picture. Fine colouring (if I
do say so myself). It's based on a Fleer trading card. But where did
Psylocke's left leg go?!
|
Jen Graffiti
An experiment with a tablet (a tool for drawing on computers) which
wound up as a gift to my girlfriend. I did some rare experimentation with
colours and clothes on the graffiti artist.
|
November Boat
A rather literal title here; I drew this boat in November while "helping"
a friend with his homework. I wasn't much help, but I came up with a few
cute doodles like this one.
|
My First Tablet
Another tablet experiment, I bought my own after Christmas and this was
my first piece of art with it. A hilarious depiction of my girlfriend
patiently listening to my complaints while I try to install the tablet software.
