Cool drawings from 2001. I made a lot of editorial cartoons involving
Super Mario because I was writing for a Nintendo site on the web at the time.
Church and State
A cartoon based on characters from the game Harvest Moon 64, meant to illustrate
the struggle between church and state. OK, so I just thought it would look
cool if I had these guys wrestling.

Snake Lady
This is a pen and ink drawing of a scantily-clad medusa-like woman.
|
Circles
A face done in pencil with lots of circles and ovals. Started out as a doodle,
and turned into a bit of an abstract portrait.
|
Cliff Face
Sketched on Valentine's Day! I wonder what I was thinking at the time? This
was copied from a book on drawing which probably means that I was thinking,
"I like to draw!"
|
Freak
A strange creature that I drew in coms 380. He turned out really well,
unfortunately, the print on the other side of the page (I use a lot of scrap
paper) came through.
|
Prospector Koopa
I designed this character as a mascot for Nintendoeye, a website I write and
illustrate for. He's a funny little guy, with just one eye. Get it, one
eye, Nintendoeye? I'm so clever!
|
Psylocke Vs. Sabretooth
Psylocke and Sabretooth square off...drawing water with pencil crayons is
hard, and my shadows could sure use some work! Still, not bad. Like most
of my Psylocke drawings, this is based on a trading card by Fleer.
|
Beetle Bustin'
Prospector Koopa does some Buzzy Beetle riding for thrills and to make money
on the side. I had already done a few Prospector Koopas when I did this one,
and I felt like I was out of ideas, but this one turned out to be a favourite
of mine!
|
Money Mario
An illustration of Mario for an article I did on Nintendoeye. This one
is really funny, if I do say so myself!
|
Baby Mario Smells
Yet another illustration for Nintendoeye. Can you tell that I like to draw
Mario?
|
Alan in the Forest of Wonders
I drew this cool piece on the bus, which makes it a bit shaky, but it's nice
anyway. Who's Alan? An instructor from one of my University classes...for
some reason this little guy reminds me of him.
|
Help Desk
Just a funny little cartoon I made for a project at work. Nothing like
making your customers feel welcome!
|
Marionette
A cross-dressing Mario that I drew for yet another Nintendoeye article. I
shaded him in a cartoon style to mimic the latest Legend of Zelda game.
|
Happy Goth Girl
A neat little drawing showcasing my cool new "messy" colouring technique. Her
hair is supposed to be shiny, but it looks more white than shiny. Still a
nice picture, I think.
|
The Professor
I drew this science-geek-professor character during one of my communications
classes. He was partly inspired by the style of The Twisted Tales of
Felix the Cat.
|
Abstract Experiment
I was experimenting with Corel Draw, looking to design a logo or something,
and instead I came out with this interesting experiment in abstraction.
|
Edsel
A piece I did to fill out my portfolio before taking my first art class in
five years! I had all these pictures of old cars, so I thought it was
a good chance to draw one. Turned out pretty nicely, although the shadows
underneath could use some work.
